Art Glass Blowing

Amberina, developed by joseph locke (1846-1936) at the new england company in east cambridge, massachusetts, was patented in 1883. The glassed container used in most of our beads is a soft , referring to the relatively low temperature that it is worked, and how fluid it gets. They may be enameled, engraved, or gilded with representations of hops or barley. The technique was developed in the late 19th century.

This makes it usable in the kitchen oven. Lampwork-a form of glassblowing where the glassed container is heated over a flame. Most glassed container figurines, ships, and sculptural pieces, are of hard glassed container because of it's tolerance to some parts cooling, while other areas are being worked in a flame.

Art Glass Blowing info: Argand lamp an oil-burning lamp with a chimney, named for the swiss physicist and inventor aimé argand (1750-1803), who invented the tubular wick burner in 1782. Each step of assembling pieces and pulling it out, reduces the size of the image, while retaining the detail. It is by melting sand in combination with other oxides such as lime or soda without crystallizing them, containing millions of tiny copper crystals which give the glassed containera golden sheen.
